How we review.
These are plain promises, not a scoring formula. We would rather tell you the truth about what we have and have not done than dress it up.
-
We only rate what we have used
A tool gets a number out of 10 only after we have used it hands-on for the jobs regular people and small businesses actually do. Until then it reads "Not rated yet". We would rather say that than guess.
-
We list the date we checked prices
Prices change. Every price we show is copied from the vendor's own page, word for word, with the date we checked it and a link to where we read it. If we have not checked a price, we say so.
-
Commissions never buy a spot
Some links are affiliate links, and we label them. A commission never changes what we recommend. If that ever changed, it would stop being a review.
-
Sponsors are labeled
At most one sponsor per issue, always clearly labeled. A sponsor cannot buy a good review.
-
We update or remove outdated entries
When a tool changes, a price moves or we get something wrong, we update the page and note the date, or we remove it. Every review shows when it was last checked.
